"Isolation" follows ex-soldier Stuart Griffiths, one of the three photographers featured in the exhibition "Of Duties". The film centers in the return to civilian life by soldiers who have been deployed in the frontlines. Directed by Luke Seomore and Joseph Bull, "Isolation" has received a large number of awards.

Third Floor Gallery hosts a talk by Laura El-Tantawy, one of the seven photographers featured in the current exhibition "Arab Revolutions". Laura talks about how she became a phojournalist after studying in the USA, and will reflect on the events she photographed in Tahrir Square, Egypt, during the revolution.

Photographer Ben Roberts talks about the genesis of his project "The Gathering Clouds", currently exhibited at Third Floor Gallery, and about his photographic practice. You can expect a good bit of banter about documentary projects, landscape photography, and "The Seventh Zone".
The talk will start at 7pm and no booking is required. However, an early arrival guarantees that you can still get a chair!

With the occasion of John Bulmer's exhibition "The North", Third Floor Gallery is proud to present this evening talk with the artist. An early pioneer of colour photography in Britain, Bulmer will talk about how "The North" developed as a project, and how he started to work in colour in the 1960's.

2 May 2011, 12-8pm, Monday Bank Holiday - "May Day Photo Fest".

May Day Photo Fest celebrates the current practice of documentary photography, featuring an exhibition by American documentary photographer Joseph Rodriguez, and a programme of talks and screenings.

The festival is an unique opportunity to drop by presentations by the multimedia duo Duckrabbit, who are advancing the art of producing documentary photofilms, and by acclaimed street photographer Matt Stuart, member of the premier street photography collective iN-PUBLiC. There also will be shown Tim Hetherington's film "Diary" in his memory. The day will culminate at six o'clock with a conversation between three generations of photographers: legendary Magnum photographer David Hurn, VII Network photographer Jocelyn Bain Hogg, and the young and rising star of portraiture Laura Pannack.

The festival will also feature all day print and book sales of the documentary photography students of Newport University. These sales will contribute funds towards their final year summer exhibition at Netil House in London Fields on the 15th of July.

This is the first of our Stand Up Slideshow events, a little chilled out party for photographers and enthusiasts to share their work and see what's going on in the photo world. For those who might feel brave enough for it, there will be plenty of discussion, banter and beer!
If you want to get feedback for your work, develop new ideas, or just simply get your work to be seen, this is definitively the event for you. Everything brought by the magic combination of slideshow + public + beer.
